The Yarny Army is a knitting group which has the challenge of knitting items specifically for use within NHS healthcare settings.
We encourage anyone who wants to make a difference to our NHS through knitting to come on down for tea, coffee, and biscuits on tap, and create beautiful and practical items that will help our hospital and healthcare staff care for:
Through knitted clothing, blankets, and other items. All you need to do is bring yourself, some spare wool, and your needles!
We have started The Yarny Army because of our connection to The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board through our Community Shuttle Bus project, and because our Chair of Trustees, Rev. Dean Aaron Roberts, is a Bank Chaplain in the Healthboard, with the chaplaincy co-ordinating the supply of knitwear for use in the hospitals.
We’ll provide the patterns to make the items, a warm space, and refreshments on tap.
To find out when the next Yarny Army session is running, please see our calendar.
We are aware that some may not be able to come to our in-person Yarny Army sessions but may still want to be involved by knitting at home and then bringing them in. If you fit into that category, please find some knitting patterns below, and drop them off at The Parish Trust HQ once you’re finished!
