The Parish Trust’s Community Lunch Club is a fledgling project of the charity, and is looking for someone with a vision to grow a small and dedicated number of individuals who use it each week. The Lunch Club has a lot to offer the community, providing a warm, welcoming space, as well as nutritious and filling hot meals at a reasonable price. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and welcome, keen to build community, and is a gifted cook, with a heart for service and helping others.
Contract type: Fixed term for 12months, with the possibility of permanence.
Hours: Thursdays, 11:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: £10.90 p/h
Location: The Parish Trust HQ (Heol yr Ysgol, Trethomas, Caerphilly, CF83 8FL)
Reports to: CARE & Wellbeing Coordinator
Key activities and responsibilities
- To set up the building, and prepare the kitchen.
- Ensuring compliance with all food hygiene and health & safety.
- To meet and great service users.
- To plan, cook, and serve meals.
- Cleaning the Kitchen area, ensuring it is safe and hygienic at all times.
- Collecting money for lunch club admissions.
- To assist in recruiting volunteers and assist them in preparing the club for the day and leaving it clean and tidy at the end of the day.
- Socialise and chat with the members who attend the lunch club.
- To promote the lunch club and the overall work of The Parish Trust.
- To be committed to developing the lunch club and foster a sense of belonging and community amongst users.
- Being a welcoming face, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Be familiar and up-to-date with all policy and procedures of the charity, and all expectations and standards of food hygiene and safety.
- Uphold the highest standards of health and safety, cleanliness and professionalism and use your own initiative to respond quickly to issues or challenges that may arise during the course of your work.
- Any other duties as would be expected to successfully run a community lunch club.

Education, qualifications or experience
- Experience of working in a catering environment is desirable but not essential.
- In possession of or willing to be trained to Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate, and trained to all food hygiene and safety standards.

- Enjoys multi-tasking in a busy fast-changing environment.
- Confident with simple mental arithmetic.
- Positive about embracing challenge and change, open to experimenting and fresh ideas.
- Believer in supportive environments, sharing with colleagues, and a supporter of the charity’s overall objectives.
