On Monday evening (16th December 2024), The Parish Trust hosted its final community event at St Thomas’ Church in Trethomas, Carols in the Car Park. Over 200 people gathered to sing, celebrate, and bid farewell to the building that has been at the heart of the charity’s work since its founding over five years ago.
The evening was a true celebration of community spirit, featuring joyful carols and performances by the BTM Brass Band and The Parish Trust Community Choir. Children were thrilled by a visit from Father Christmas and his reindeer, spreading festive cheer, while his helpers ensured everyone felt the magic of the season.
Rev. Dean Aaron Roberts, CEO of The Parish Trust, reflected on the significance of the event:
St Thomas’ Church has been at the centre of so much of our work, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, tonight’s event reminds us of the incredible community we’ve built together. It’s not about the building – it’s about the people, the love, the support, and its Christian foundation that make The Parish Trust what it is. This was a night to celebrate that legacy and look forward to what lies ahead.
The event would not have been possible without the dedication of many. Special thanks go to the BTM Brass Band, The Parish Trust Community Choir, Father Christmas, his reindeer, and helpers for making the evening so magical. A huge thank you also goes to the staff of The Parish Trust, who worked tirelessly to make the event happen, as well as the volunteers who gave their time and energy to support the occasion. Gratitude is also extended to Firefly Photograffi, who captured the joy and togetherness of the evening.
As The Parish Trust closes this chapter at St Thomas’ Church, the charity remains focused on its mission to serve and uplift the community. This event was a heartfelt farewell and a celebration of all that has been achieved together.
