Role Purpose

To ensure all functions and tasks involved in the day-to-day cleaning of The Parish Trust building are carried out efficiently and effectively in accordance with agreed procedures and protocols, so that all of our stakeholders enjoy a clean environment and the reputation of The Parish Trust is enhanced and maintained.

The Cleaner is an integral part of the day-to-day functioning of The Parish Trust’s building. Whilst the work of the cleaner is often unseen, it is absolutely vital in order to ensure the cleanliness and high standard of presentation that the charity needs to maintain for the benefit of our stakeholders. It will suit someone who is a hard worker, interested in contributing towards the success of a charity, and who prides themselves in creating a great impression.

Essential Details

Contract – This position is a part time permanent contract, for 10 hours per week.

Working Pattern – Monday-Friday. The job will need to be done either early in the morning, or late at night outside the charity’s normal working day which is between 8am-10pm. There could be some flexibility in timings, which would be agreed in consultation with the successful candidate.

Wage – The wage is £5,200 p/a (£20,800 p/a pro rata for a full time contract)

Location – The Parish Trust, Heol yr Ysgol, Trethomas, CF83 8FL.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks

  • To be responsible for the cleanliness of the site, whilst following Health & Safety guidelines
  • The safe use of chemicals and cleaning materials as instructed Health and Safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where necessary
  • To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, eg. vacuum cleaners and polishers
  • To maintain high standards of hygiene and safety of all cleaning equipment and cleaning cupboards in your charge.
  • To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of building or environment safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices and normal charity operations, immediately to the Office
  • To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of breakdowns of equipment that may be detrimental to safe working practices to the Office.

Duties to include the following:

  • Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
  • Spot cleaning of spillages
  • Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass
  • Emptying and cleaning bins
  • Cleaning toilets and bathrooms including sanitary fittings and surrounds
  • Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
  • Cleaning of kitchen, maintaining standards expected of a Food Hygiene rated premises
  • Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture
  • Replenishing janitorial supplies in toilets, etc
  • Checking and closing windows, switching off lights (where required) after work
  • Keeping a log of cleaning/sanitary equipment and consumables and liaising with the Office staff to arrange replenishment where necessary.
  • Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time, inside and outside the building.
