CARE Project Assistant

The CARE Project is one of Caerphilly County Borough’s largest and busiest food banks, making itself available to over 54,000 people if they need it. Working with over 60 referral partners, the CARE Project provides vital support to thousands of people each year through multi agency networking and a communal approach to helping others.

It’s an exciting time to be part of The Parish Trust, and we’re looking for a number of CARE Project Assistants to help the CARE Project Lead in delivering the project and making a positive impact on the lives of many.

Role Purpose: To assist the CARE Project Lead in the running of the CARE Project.

Contract: 1 year with option for renewal.

Pay: £12p/h (reviewed in January 2025)

Job Description

  1. Assisting in all aspects of the day to day running of The Parish Trust’s CARE Project
  2. Carrying out regular compliance checks to ensure the quality and safety of the service.
  3. Ensuring food safety/hygiene standards are in line with environmental health standards.
  4. Monitoring allergies forms and providing the staff team with accurate and up-to-date information to prevent any risk to customers.
  5. Assisting with Volunteer management, training, and induction
  6. Assisting with monitoring systems
  7. Assisting with the coordination of food collections
  8. Being a point of contact for communication between all stakeholders
  9. Leading shifts on a rota basis for food deliveries and food parcel packing & distribution
  10. Other duties as determined from time to time by your line manager

Person Specification

This role will suit someone who is a team player, can take initiative, and is passionate about social justice. You will need to be a hard worker, and willing to progress in your professional development. You will be competent in the use of a computer and will be able to learn new systems and processes quickly. You will be a responsible individual and will be flexible in order to meet the demands of the role.

As the position is on a zero hour contract, we will not consider applicants who will be relying on this job to meet their everyday financial needs.
