March is promising to be a great month at The Parish Trust!
Dear ,
We continue to be as busy as ever at The Parish Trust, working hard to combat poverty and loneliness in all its forms, whilst establishing a number of clubs, events, courses, and services to build provision and establish community. We don't want you to miss out!
Here's what's going in our building and around our community in the coming month, along with some updates on what we've achieved recently and how you can support us in our work.
We also share with you a statement by our Chair of Trustees regarding the unfolding crisis in Ukraine...

The Ukraine Crisis
|
|
The Parish Trust wishes to express its support for and solidarity with the people of Ukraine as they come to terms with the outbreak of an unwanted and unjustified war on their freedom and democracy. I will be monitoring the situation as it develops to discern what, if anything, we can do as a charity to support the humanitarian effort of other charitable organisations to help civilians in Ukraine in their time of trouble. In the meantime, please join me in praying for the people of Ukraine, that they may have peace, and, in the midst of danger, have courage and strength to overcome.

Community Choir to Launch
| |
After a series of online information sessions held throughout February, The Parish Trust is pleased to announce that it is launching a brand new community choir. It is well researched that singing improves mental health and wellbeing, and a choir brings people together to have fun, socialise, and achieve something. The choir will be the first stepping stone into the world of music making for many, and we're looking for new members...

SUPPORTING OUR NHS
The Yarny Army is Formed
|
|
Our Chair of Trustees, Rev. Dean Aaron Roberts, has just started as a Chaplain in the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. It has quickly become apparent that one way in which people can help the NHS is through knitting items for babies and patients, such as bonding squares, hats, blankets, cannula sleeves, and "twiddle muffs". The Parish Trust has therefore formed a "Yarny Army" who come together on Wednesday mornings to knit and knatter together whilst making a valuable contribution to the NHS. Those who cannot join the Yarny Army on a Wednesday morning are still able to take part by sending knitting in, and staying up to date with what the hospitals need, and getting the patterns for the various items via our dedicated Yarny Army page.

Introducing Monthly Impact Reports
For 2022, we have decided to share monthly impact reports on our website to ensure that stakeholders know what we're doing, how we're helping, and how we're using our resources. These will be published each month.

"If it wasn't for these kind souls and the generosity of everyone that is involved with The Parish Trust, I honestly don't know how me and my family would have survived in these last few months. So, a great big 'thank you' from myself and my family."

FUNDRAISING
Could you play your part in raising money to secure the future of the charity?
|
|
Simon is. In April, Simon is running the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for The Parish Trust. We are so grateful to him! Here's what he has to say...
I began running about five years ago to keep fit but obviously only short distances to start. I like to set goals in my running journey and have so far completed several Caerphilly 10k events, Cardiff half marathon and an informal full charity marathon. This will be my first organised, big event marathon and I knew straight away that The Parish Trust was going to be my chosen charity. All I have to do now is to put the training miles in and of course raise money by completing the Brighton Marathon on April 10th 2022.
We are really hoping that lots of people will support him, and that it may inspire others to fundraise for us by doing a sponsored run or something similar. We are registered with major Crowdfunding websites such as Crowdfunder and Go Fund Me so it's easy for anyone to fundraise for us!
