December 2021 Newsletter
Dear ,
Hello from The Parish Trust! Last time we contacted you was back in October to let you know of some exciting things that were going on at the charity. We promise to not bombard you with spam email, and we only get in touch when we have something substantial to say. So, in the run up to Christmas, we thought we'd touch base with you to say hello and to inform you of our most recent developments...

Congratulations to Aimee and Elys!
On Saturday 4th December, Aimee (our Community Worker) and Elys (our Caffi Caredig Officer) got married in a very festive wedding service! Rev. Dean, our Chair of Trustees, took the service, and some of the other staff and trustees were involved in organising the service from arranging flowers to ringing the church bells! Congratulations both, and may we wish you all our love and prayers for your future together!

Hospital Shuttle Bus Launch
We are very excited to announce the launch of our Community Shuttle Bus which will take Caerphilly residents to The Grange Hospital directly. This service must be pre-booked (a bit like National Express!) but it's now live and you can book tickets online via our website, or by telephoning our office if you need to use it.

CARE Project Food Donations
Demand for our food parcels and practical help as part of the CARE Project has significantly increased in the last quarter of 2021, with further demand expected to rise as we approach Christmas. We would be really grateful for any donations of the following items:
- Tins of all kinds - Packet foods / instant foods - UHT Milk - Puddings - Sauces - Cereals - Crisps - Christmas items
Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm. We have a big collection bin in our porch where donations can be left. We then pick them up and stock them in our Food Hub ready to be distributed. We are really struggling to keep up with demand at present, so your help, if you're able, would be greatly appreciated

Bag a Bargain - we're still running!
A quick reminder that Bag a Bargain runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6pm to 7pm down at our Charity HQ (St Thomas' Church, Heol yr Ysgol, Trethomas, Caerphilly, CF83 8FL).
It's a mix of fresh food that has been given to us from big suppliers which is "short dated". For a suggested donation of £2.50, the bags contain a good mix of food which we believe is a great bargain, especially with Christmas round the corner...
All proceeds go back into the charity so we can continue helping those who need our support.

In the new year, we plan to launch a community lunch club in Trethomas, which will be for any age and at a very affordable price. As part of the lunch club, we will be providing various entertainment, workshops, and information sessions after the lunch which we hope will be of interest to many.
Please stay tuned for more information which will be released in January, and if you have any suggestions, questions, or want to express an interest in getting involved, please contact us.

Christmas Closing 2021
We would like to let service users of the charity know that our offices will be closed from Christmas Eve and will not reopen until Monday 3rd January 2022.
This means that the last opportunity to request a food parcel from the CARE Project will be Wednesday 22nd December 2021.
We advise planning ahead to avoid disappointment.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Staff at The Parish Trust, may I wish you and all those you love a very merry Christmas. As a Christian based organisation, this time of year gives us a great opportunity to reflect and remember our motive for running the charity.
We understand that not everyone shares our faith, and we exist for the benefit of everyone, regardless of their beliefs. For us, however, Christmas is the time where we remember that God so loved our beautiful but broken world that he came to us in the person of his Son, Jesus. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our brokenness, and rose again from the dead for us so that anyone who receives him as a gift into their lives will know the assurance of everlasting life. Because of this wonderful gift, The Parish Trust seeks to be a gift to all those we aim to serve.
God never promises us an easy life, and the last year will have been difficult in so many ways for a good number of us. And yet, Jesus also had a very difficult life, so he knows what we're going through, and he promises to be with us if we ask him to be. One of Jesus' other names is "Emmanuel" which means "God is with us".
You can find out more about what Christians believe about Christmas by reading this little booklet.
If you have any further questions, you can always get in touch with us and we'd be delighted to discuss them with you.
Our genuine prayer for you this Christmas is that you'll sense that God is with you, and that by trusting in him, you'll receive this wonderful gift of everlasting life and the peace that and joy that comes with it.
Wishing you all the best for the rest of December, a peaceful holiday, and a wonderful start to the New Year!
With all my love and prayers, Rev. Dean Aaron Roberts Chair of Trustees
