Job Purpose:

The Youth and Children’s Programme Manager will develop, implement, and manage a variety of programs aimed at supporting the growth and development of children and young people within the community. This role is central to ensuring that The Parish Trust provides engaging, educational, and supportive activities that align with our mission and values, bringing life in all its fullness to all our young people and children, and sowing faith, sharing hope, and showing love in their lives. Children and Young People are a top priority for The Parish Trust and our investment in them is key to alleviating and overcoming the challenges that so many face in society today that The Parish Trust seeks to provide help with.

You will be a key person in the staff team of The Parish Trust and will assist in setting the strategic and operational direction of youth and children’s work within the charity.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development and Management:

• Design and deliver a comprehensive range of programs for children and young people, including educational workshops, recreational activities, and community service projects.
• Collaborate with other staff, volunteers, and external partners to ensure programs are inclusive, diverse, and meet the needs of the community.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, making improvements based on feedback and best practices.

Leadership and Supervision:

• Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers and part-time staff to assist in the delivery of youth and children’s programs.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to volunteers, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.

Community Engagement:

• Act as the primary point of contact for children, young people, parents, and guardians involved in the programs.
• Foster strong relationships with local schools, community groups, and other organisations to promote collaboration and support for the programs.

Administration and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and outcomes.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management, funders, and stakeholders.
• Assist in the development of funding proposals and manage budgets effectively.

Safeguarding and Compliance:

• Ensure all programs comply with relevant safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection issues and legislation, and helping the Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) with identifying training needs for staff and volunteers as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

• Degree educated
• A recognised qualification in Education, Social Work, Youth Work, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of managing youth and children’s programs.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends as required.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who will run and manage the charity’s mobile snack bar, making it a valuable and income generating arm of the charity’s work whilst helping us to reduce food waste, connect with the community, and raise the profile of The Parish Trust.

It is absolutely essential that the successful candidate can successfully run a catering business, connect with people, and cover all expenditure through their own planning to make this venture a success and secure a permanent position after the fixed term ends.

You will be able to tow the Caffi Caredig and find business through private events, food festivals, corporate opportunities, and other opportunities.

What is the overall purpose of the role?

As manager of the Caffi Caredig, you will ensure that high quality and great value food and drink are prepared and served to customers from a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. You will be a roaming representative for The Parish Trust, raising its profile and helping to deliver its charitable objectives through the selling of ethical food and drink products and making the Caffi Caredig a profitable social enterprise.

Key activities and responsibilities

• Preparing and serving food, making coffee and tea and collecting money.
• Ensuring the café is fully stocked and can meet the menu at all times, planning and preparing snack bar food and drink, and managing the stock.
• Cleaning the Caffi areas, inside and outside and ensure they are safe and hygienic at all times.
• Check that all facilities, equipment or furnishings are in good order and to report any damage.
• Implementing a normal operating plan, ensuring correct opening and closing times and setting up and clearing down as required.
• Manage and monitor expenditure, stock, wastage and use-by dates.
• Ensuring the completion of daily financial reporting and cash handling and that all expenditure is covered by an invoice or receipt.
• Respond promptly and professionally to any customer feedback, comments or complaints.
• Being a welcoming face, ensuring excellent customer service.
• Be familiar and up-to-date with all policy and procedures of the charity, and all expectations and standards of food hygiene and safety, and implementing them.

The CARE Project also reduces food waste, reusing food or saving food from large suppliers, and putting it into food parcels or using it as part of our Bag a Bargain scheme. You will help to lead our volunteers and coordinate the CARE Project, ensuring it continues to run smoothly and that our service users get the help they need.

The CARE Project Lead is a key member of The Parish Trust Team. This is a demanding and fast paced role that is pivotal to supporting the delivery of the CARE Project. It would suit a person who catches the vision and ethos we hold to, is structured and organised in their approach, and has a passion for community support and social justice. In addition, they will be willing to work flexibly as required to get the job done. They will be confident to work both collaboratively and independently, and adaptable to a changing environment. This role has the opportunity to connect with all areas of the community. It is a face-to-face role on a daily basis.

What you should know about the job

Contract: 37.5 hours per week, permanent.

Working pattern: 2:30pm-6:30pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with remaining hours to be worked flexibly as agreed by your line manager. This can be reviewed once the successful applicant has settled into their role.

Salary: £24,472 p/a (pro rata based on a 40 hour working week) Possibility of overtime as and when required. The Parish Trust operates a progression programme for professional development.

Main Duties

Volunteer Organisation

• Ensuring suitable volunteer numbers for the various streams of the project.
• Training volunteers for their roles and ensuring due diligence is met.
• Ensuring volunteers have access to various training resources and that their training is kept up to date.
• Organising sessions for volunteer troubleshooting and advice.
• Logging volunteer hours and being a first point of contact for volunteers when they are on shift, in collaboration with the wider staff team.
• Using volunteer management and communications systems to accurately reflect data back to the organisation

“Food Hub”

• Keeping appropriate records of the CARE Project activities, including cleaning, food logging, temperature logs etc.
• Managing the “Food Hub” when it is open and ensuring all deliveries are met on time and to a good standard.
• Packing food parcels, arranging, collecting and storing food items.
• Managing the Food Collections from the various food outlets and distributors, ensuring that regular food supply is maintained to the CARE Project, and that volunteers are on hand to assist with this.
• Ensuring support requests are handled and dealt with appropriately and efficiently.
• Ensuring the charity van is looked after, prepped and inspected for deliveries, and logged & inspected at the end of shift, ensuring keys are away safely, and the vehicle logs filled in.

Building

• Helping to ensure the building is thoroughly and regularly cleaned to the appropriate standard.
• Helping to ensure the building is well-organised and suitable for its purpose.
• Ensuring that the building is opened and shut following charity procedures.
• General maintenance, tidying, and security of the grounds.
• Ensuring the building is looked after and well maintained.

Collaboration with other Staff

• Working with other staff, where appropriate, to report on any issues with food, stock levels etc.
• Working with other staff on issues to do with volunteering, numbers, issues etc.
• Line management of part time staff or willingness to line manage (funding depending)

• Keeping records of impact for grant funders
