Lunch Club

Our Community Lunch Club is a space for people of different ages and backgrounds to come together for a meal.

We use perfectly good food that has been donated by businesses and local allotment groups to make fresh soups and other dishes. We operate on a donation only basis, meaning there is no set cost – you simply turn up and pay as you feel able.

Bag a Bargain

As part of our commitment to help our community, reduce food waste, improve the environment, and tackle food poverty, The Parish Trust offer lucky dip food bags every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening from 5:30pm (apart from bank holidays) for a suggested donation of £3.00.*

What is a lucky dip food bag?

A lucky dip food bag is a mixture of ambient and chilled foods that are deemed to be excess for our food hub, and may go to waste.

How much food do you get in a food bag?

On average, every bag has at least £15.00 worth of food in it.

Is this food donated by members of the general public?

No. The food we put into our food bags come from large suppliers and distributors. All public donations of food go into our food parcels which are given out through The CARE Project

Who is eligible to get a lucky dip food bag?

Anyone is eligible to receive a Bag a Bargain lucky dip food bag from us.

How do I order one?

Those wishing to get a food bag must come in person to The Parish Trust from 6pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays. Bags are given on a first come, first served basis. We have a limited number each week and we close once they're all gone, so please come quickly to avoid disappointment.

Is there a limit on how many I can get?

Due to popular demand, we sometimes limit the number of bags a person can get. We will do our best to announce this when we place limits.

Do you offer delivery?

No - Bag a Bargain is collection only from our charity building.

Do I get all the food that's advertised on your social media platforms?

In order to raise awareness of Bag a Bargain, we often use social media such as Facebook to promote our Bag a Bargain evenings. We use a mixture of Facebook Live and photos to demonstrate the types of foods that will go in our Bag a Bargain bags.

However, much of the food is of differing quantities. We try to distribute the food as evening as possible, but we cannot guarantee that a particular food item will be included in each Bag a Bargain. It is, as we say, a lucky dip bag.

Can we pack our own bags?

For reasons of fairness, no. They are packed for you by our volunteers.

*Please check our calendar and social media for changes or cancellations to Bag a Bargain. Sometimes we have to cancel due to lack of surplus food.

The Help Hub is here

The Parish Trust has introduced a new Help Hub to make it easier for service users to ask for support and for referral partners to make referrals. You will need to register as a service user or referral partner to receive or arrange ongoing support.

The CARE Project is The Parish Trust's food bank and essential items resource for anyone in need across the CF83 postcode area.

Once you have requested help through our telephone support service or through our online support, someone will be in touch with you within as soon as possible (Mon-Fri, 9am-12pm) to confirm your request. It’s really important that we confirm your request with you before we action it, so make sure you give us the correct contact information.

Receive

Once everything has been confirmed, sit back and let us take care of the rest. We’ll be delighted to help you with providing you a food parcel, or setting up a time to chat over the phone.

Need help again?

Simply repeat the steps! We’re more than happy to help you as often as you need*. However, if you need more than three food parcels within a calendar year, you will need a referral.

*We reserve the right to cap the number of parcels and/or referrals given to any service user in order to ensure the system is being used correctly and that parity is shown to all service users.

What is a Referral?

If you receive food parcels from us, you are able to request 3 in any calendar year before you need the support of another organisation in order to continue receiving them...

To continue being able to request food parcels from us after your 3 food parcel limit, you would need to get in touch with one of our referral partners, who will contact us to refer you. They will then give you a referral number which you can use to continue requesting parcels.

How long do referrals last?

Once you have a referral number from one of our partners, the referral will last for 90 days, after which the referral number expires.

We hope that after this point you will find yourself in better circumstances. However, if after 90 days you're still in need of help from us, you can simply ask your referral partner to refer you again. They will issue you with a new referral number and you can continue to request food parcels from us. We reserve the right to monitor the number of referrals a service user has, and limit that number if we feel that the system is being abused.

What sort of services can we refer people for?

The CARE Project provides food parcels, and an emotional support service...

Service Users need a referral for long term help with food parcels. Referring is optional for our other services, however we do encourage Referral Partners to make referrals for all services as it puts people on our radar, and Referred Service Users are able to gain access to other types of support such as financial assistance if they are eligible, and life skills training.
